Began Playing Disc Golf?: I started playing in 2012. My friend Brian Duran took me to Sun Valley Golf Course to show me the sport to me. It was brand new to me. I have never heard of the sport ever. I played with some discs he gave me because I didn't have any discs of my own. I think I did alright that day. And after that I got a bag and some discs, since then I play as much as possible and play in as many tournaments as I can. I usually play 1-2 times a week now. He showed me how to play the sport and now I can not get enough of it. I am so excited to go to the course and throw plastic. My usual courses I go to are; Sun Valley, Morley Field, and Kit Carson Disc Golf course.

First Disc?: My first disc that was given to me was a tsunami-170. But really my first disc that I call my own, because I feel that my first disc was the disc that I bought first. And that disc was a Vector Eclipse Glow Proton-180.

Favorite Hole at Morley and Why?: I would probably say my favorite hole at Morley Field would be hole 6. I love how hole 14 is a blind throw from the top of the hill. It helps me with aiming and consistency to a blind basket.

Morley Field Aces?: I have not yet gotten any aces an any course that I have played at; however, I am getting really close to getting my first ace. I have almost aced a few but missed the basket by inches, and a few actually have chained out. So, no I haven't gotten any aces yet, but there will be an ace in my bag sooner than later.

Favorite Disc and Why?: My favorite disc probably has to be either my black Gauge-180, or my blue McPro Aviar-175 Paul McBeth World Championships back to back championships 2012-2013.

Favorite Driver and Why?: My favorite driver is probably one of my three Cannons. Cannons are golden ticket to a killer drive. I can throw my cannons over 100 yards. A cannon is my go to driver on a long drive at the tee pad at any course I play at.

Favorite Midrange and Why?: My favorite midrange disc probably has to be my Pinnacle Ghost I got at the 2013 Cactus Finale in Phoenix Arizona.

Favorite Putter and Why?: My favorite putter has to be my blue McPro Aviar-175 Paul McBeth World Championships back to back championships 2012-2013. It is very consistent for me, and I can depend on it for a medium to long putt to hit the chains and make the putt. This putter is one of the only two putters I carry when I go to a course.

2013 Cactus Finale: phoenix, AZ. (placed 19th out of 21 people in MA2 Division)

Favorite Pro Player?: My favorite pro player has to be either Paul McBeth, or A.J. Risley. When I was at the 2013 SoCal Championship Tournament at Kit Carson, I watched both Paul McBeth and A.J. Risley play. Paul won the entire thing. I followed him in his final 9 holes to just watch the top 4 players paly this amazing sport and I was completely astonished by all their skills.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: Play as much as you possibly can. Watch YouTube videos on disc golf when you can. I have learned so much from just watching pros on YouTube. Watch pros at tournament as well. In person and on utube are two different experiences and it will only help you get better in this sport. Play with people that are better than you so you can learn from them, and when you are better than them, play with other people that are then better than you so you get better all the time. Find out what discs work for you by doing field work as much as possible, by going to an open park and just throwing all your discs to see what works for you and what doesn't. Only carry what works for you in your bag when you play. And lastly, do as many tournaments as possible, because you get free swag, you can get prizes from the raffles, you can get awards or prizes from winning in your division, and most importantly you can learn from all the other players in the tournaments.

Began Playing Disc Golf:carlo I began playing this game in 1997. In 1998 I found out about tournaments and began to play monthlies at Morley. In October of 1999 I decided to play my first ever PDGS event. It was the SoCal Championships at La Mirada, Intermediate division and took 5th. The following year I decided to play Advance and took first at the Wintertime open in Pasadena. In 2001 I challenged myself and started playing n the pro division and never looked back, winning the 2001 PDGA rookie of the year.

First Disc?: Believe it or not my first ever disc was a DX Raven. My first ever Ace disc was a DX Banchee. Hole 1b

Favorite Hole at Morley and Why?: Its gotta be hole 5. Only because of the ohhhs and awwws from the back up of people that are watching the disc fly that far.

Morley Field Aces?: I have approximately 75 aces at Morley.

Favorite Disc and Why?: Z Predator from Discraft. Fast overstable driver that delivers consistent predictability. Dont ever leave the house without it.

Favorite Driver and Why?: Thats a hard question to answer, but Ill try by saying Z Nuke, Z Predator, Z Surge, ZPro D Challenger. Thanks Discraft!

Favorite Midrange and Why?: Z Wasp and Z Buzz and The Ti Drone. Because they’re awesome.

Favorite Putter and Why?: Gotta be the Pro D Challenger. Been using this Disc since 2003 and have never looked at any other putter since.

Began Playing Disc Golf?:  18 February 2012. My cousin Jose Duran invited me to play "disc golf" at morley field. I had never heard of disc golf before, and had no idea what he was talking about. Jose explained the game real quick, and I laughed in his face and made fun of him... Disc golf sounded like a girly sport and a waste of time. After playing holes 1-5 at Morley I went to the shop and bought 5 discs! I have been hooked ever since!

First Disc?: I bought 5 discs my very first time ever playing... Angel Garcia was working the shop and I asked him what I should buy. Angel sold me - DX ROC, Star Dart, KC Pro 12X ROC (still have it), Champion Roadrunner, Champion Mamba. Thanks Angel! hahaha

Favorite Hole at Morley and Why?: My favorite hole at Morley has to be hole 1. Doesn't matter the pin position I just like hanging out before rounds, after rounds etc. and watching other people approach the hole. When I was a newbie at the course I didn’t know much about the game or disc selection. I would hang out at Hole 1's bench and try to link up with good players or groups of players to learn more about the game. I've had the privilege to shoot rounds with sponsored players, knowledgeable players, players that ran their mouths too much until my score at the end of the round shut them up!... LOL...

Morley Field Aces?: My one and only Ace is 9C... My little brother was there to see it. It was with a MVP Axis 180g, it was a straight laserbeam shot, clipped a tree branch, hit a tree to the right bounced hard left, hit another tree and kicked right into the cage! It was ridiculous!

Favorite Disc and Why?: 11X Firebird 175g I always have two of them in my bag. I love the feel of the 11x plastic, and the firebird just does exactly what I want it to do! Plus, I throw a mean thumber and the 11x plastic seems to hold up better than the 12x plastic.

Favorite Driver and Why?: First run Proto stamp Star Destroyer! I have quite a collection of first run Destroyers. A lot of people get mad that I throw them, but they fly beautifully and feel perfect in my hand. I don't see the point in hoarding great discs and not letting them fly...

Favorite Midrange and Why?: My favorite midrange is my CE Gator... She does exactly what I want her to do and she's quite the meat hook! Plus the CE pearly plastic feels oh so sexy!

Favorite Putter and Why?: My favorite putter is the Black 5X JK Pro Aviar-X 175G. The JK was introduced to me by the very wise Mark Wilson... He saw me putting with a KC Pro Aviar and he asked me why I was using those. I told him I had seen a lot of the Open players at Morley putting with them. I told him I like the stability of the putter, but not the feel of them. They felt slippery and really stiff. He bought me two JK's that moment and I have been putting with those ever since, and I love them!

My favorite tourney play was FEB 2014 monthly, I place second to Max Nichols, he shot -23, I shot -22. I shot my personal best in the first round which was -13.

Favorite Pro Player?:  I don't have a favorite Pro player... I have met a few but I can't say they are my favorite players. My favorite disc golfers can be found at Morley almost every other day of the week.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: Try to have fun... don't get stuck thinking about a bad shot or bad hole. Try to learn from your mistakes. Play with players that are better than you. Go to an open field and get familiar with your discs.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: Don't let one hole ruin your day whether it's an ace or a triple bogey. Focus on one thing at a time. It's not over till its over there is always a chance.

Began Playing Disc Golf?: I began playing disc golf at the ripe old age of 8 years old. My uncle Frank Aguilera used to run the pro shop at Oak Grove (1984 or 5ish) and I would go out with him and all his buddies (Zimmerman Stokley, Sheldon, the Lissamens and the likes, I even remember a very young Steve Rico). Watching these titans of the old school was very motivating. I remember a wintertime open tournament sponsored by BUD LITE!!! So I played recreationally (or scarcely) until moving to north park about three minutes by skateboard from Morley. Then I started playing seriously. Motivated by the Jarvis twins and Micah Dorius until I believe 1999 Spring Fling at Morley placed 3rd Am. Won my first PDGA contest where I retired for a decade due to being a young and arrogant poor sport. Fast forward 2009 I am back and now a little more mature with a renewed passion and love for the sport.

First Disc?: This a tuff one. First disc for golf had to be a Midnight Flyer. The Aero Driver was my first driver.

Favorite Hole at Morley and Why?: My favorite hole at Morley has to be a tie between 5, 6, and 7 all long. Or pro tee 8 any of the longs.

Morley Field Aces?: Been a while so my memory of letter to pin position is rusty... 1 middle of trees short, 2 right by the park lot, 4 by the road, 8 straight by tee 9, 12 right side by fence, 15 pre pyramid, 16 straight and short and back 30 ft bye the wall, last but not least 18 behind the willow I hyzered over the pro shop. P.S. I chained out of 19 long once.

Favorite Disc and Why?: My favorite disc is a signature 1984 Aviar Driver model of the disc my uncle Frank set the world record. May very well be one of Innova’s first signature discs.

Favorite Driver and Why?: My favorite driver is the Innova Champion upper signature 08 Feldberg world Champ Boss.

Adapt a consistent grip and never get attached to a disc cause I got 99 problems but a disc aint one...

Began Playing Disc Golf: tender age of ten (officially; I'm sure my dad took me out before then) I have a picture of myself throwing on hole 8 and it has a 1993 date on the back.

First Disc: The Viper. I loved that thing. My dad let me use it because it was already beat to mush

Favorite Hole at Morley (and why?): 7 long.  Being a lefty with a little power, I'm able to ride the valley and give myself an opportunity for birdie sometimes. Also I love to watch righties fumble with all the discs In their bag because they cant figure out the best line to the basket.

Morley Field Aces: 4c, 8b w/snapper, 11a, 13c twice, 15a

Favorite Disc (and why?): my 150g esp flick. I know that when I throw that disc it will be two things: fast and entertaining.

Favorite Driver (and why?): my boss.  It's fast, stable, predictable, and when thrown properly, will go as far as I need it to.

Favorite Midrange (and why?): my Crystal z Buzz. Tacky, easy to grip, and easy to control. Even for a bum like me.

Favorite Putter (and why?): JK pro-x. Soft, stable, and seems to like the chains if and when it hits 'em. I've got a moldy Orange one I throw to this day.. ..maybe it's time for a new one.  Maybe.

In My Bag: mostly max weight: star boss, champ destroyer, esp flick, first run nuke, Buzz, 12x firebird for long overhands, nuke os for forehand, star Roc for my less stable endeavors, also a second or third run ce valkyrie for my long and straight drives

Tourney Top 5 finishes (not necessarily from Morley): 3rd @ monthly (open), 1st @ monthly (adv), 2nd @ spring fling(ma1), I think I finished 4th or 5th at an ace race too if that counts :)

Favorite Disc Golf Website: probably my new-found love dollar disc golf auctions on Facebook. There's a lot of great plastic and some very knowledgeable folks.  My fiance gets mad at me because I'm on it all night.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: find a friend and play as much as you can. Pick the brains of those around the pro shop. Also, don't go for so many putts outside your comfort zone. I see a lot of scores inflate because people are trying to sink 60 footers instead of taking par.  Those birds will come in due time.

Began Playing Disc Golf: First round was in 2006ish and played only a couple times that year. I played very sporadically until 2011 when I played my first tournament up at Goat Hill.

First Disc: 4x champ Valkyrie. Still have it in the bag as a utility disc.

Favorite Hole at Morley: 19 long. Requires a good mix of power and accuracy. It was way more tough when that big tree was still standing.

Morley Field Aces: 5c, 15 on the pyramid, 19 long

Favorite Disc: My bright yellow 11x firebird. A disc I can lay into, no matter what the conditions are like, and know exactly where it’s going to go.

Favorite Driver: 11x firebird- There isn’t a more reliable trust worthy disc out there. Stable as EFFFFF

Favorite Midrange:  Z Buzzz. Can be used for anything from a 200ft fan grip to a 400ft crush

Favorite Putter: Wizard. Havent found a putter that fits my putting style better and don’t plan on looking anywhere else.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: Learn to putt. You’ll need to be make all your putts inside the circle before you need to throw 400+ feet. Also practice shots in an open field as opposed to the course. You’ll be able to throw shots and make adjustments way quicker than if you did the same thing on the course. Play tournaments. Play with people that are better than you.

Began Playing Disc Golf: The art of throwing the Frisbee was passed down to me by my father at a young age, but it was not until the early 2000’s that I established my passion for disc golf.

First Disc: Discraft XL

Favorite Hole at Morley : 10 when it all the way down by 13’s tee pad, because it’s ecstatically beautiful and challenging hole at the same time.

Favorite Disc: Roc N Roll all day baby! It’s a multipurpose disc that can be utilized in any situation, therefore manifesting itself as the greatest disc ever made.

Name: Grace Rivas Started playing Disc Golf: I started playing the winter of 2003, a friend of mine introduced me to the game, I remember asking him "what the #$@% is disc golf, after the first round I knew this was the sport for me, no coaches, no teamates, just me and the course, I like to say that I did not find disc golf, disc golf found me, and I love it!

My First Disc: a 180g 3 flyer! it was heavy as a brick, got my first ace with it!!!

Favorite hole at Morley: my favorite hole has to be 10 long, when it's all the way to the back, for some odd reason I can play this hole well, (most of the time, hahaha) it probably helps to be a left handed too.

Favorite Disc:  it has to be the sidewinder, I can throw the son of a gun well and it get's the job done most of the time, star plastic of course, that's why I am sidewinder Grace!!! It's a sexy disc too.

Favorite Midrange: The DGA Squall, because I just learned how to trow it, it's great for those right hand holes, great turn over disc, also a sexy one,

Favorite Putter: It has to be the Innova Rhyno, I love the high lip it's got!

Morley Aces: I have only 2 aces, my first one was on hole 16 b, I was having a bad round, probably + 14 or so, but I shot my 3 flyer straight into the basket and bam, ace baby! a few weeks later I lost the disc and never found it, My 2nd ace was 13 a, a little side arm throw and in it goes, it was with a Discraft 172g I think, I also lost the disc a few months later, I call " the curse of the ace" a few weeks later after my 2nd ace I fracture my left wrist, this was a game changer for me!

(I know it's just a page actually) We some times organize bag tags with up to 20+ players. guys and girls can find out who's playing on what day, I also have to mention that the MORLEY LOCOS was founded by Oscar Aceves, Joe "Dirty" Sanchez and my self! ( the FB page was my brainchild and I am proud of it. Not to be mistaken by the MORLEY LOCALS, whom we respect and love too! those folks are also locos in a way, we usually let them tee of first out of respect!

Favorite Pro Players: Avery J. and Nate D., one they are world champs, two (and the most important one) they are humble, polite, respectful and nice, they are cool when you talk to them, they are happy to give you their autograph, they are great ambassadors of the game and they keep it real, there are some clowns here in SD that call themselves pro players and even go as far as saying things like "I am my favorite player... It has to be me.." kind of crap, now this guys have no respect for the game, or it's players, with this being said clowns like this will never be part of one of the most elite clubs in SD "MORLEY LOCOS'

I also like Carlo P. he is just a cool fun guy, (a bad ass too) when I firs started playing he hooked me up with a pair of discs, (back in 03) still have one of those disc! Gracias loco!!!

Tips For Newer Players: putt putt putt putt, then practice putting some more, don't go and buy a new bag with a bunch of discs that you cannot control yet, keep it simple ,driver putter and mid range to start (3 disc) once you can somewhat control the invest in some more, now just because the disc is a pro bad ass disc it does not mean you will know how to trow it, it's not the disc, is the monkey behind it! Try to play with kats that play good so you can pick up a couple of pointers, if you find a disc, take it to the pro shop, you will get a buck for it and is good karma, lot's of disc are not returned and some of the guys and girls are taking that trash personal (including me). Also have fun, if you are not having fun, you are losing the round, remember that at morley even a bad round is a good round, you are out and about kicking it with your friends, doing a little work out and that is great (or any other course in the world) I hope one day we can see this sport on TV, at a more professorial level

Final Thoughts: Lot's of people criticize the sport and call it all sorts of bad names, but you know what? we are working out, maybe even shedding a few ponds and living life at it's fullest, it beats the couch that's for sure! so go out there and work it baby, good for the heart and it will put a smile on that face!

Began Playing Disc Golf: I started playing around 1993 or 94.  I played tournament racquetball for 20 years and the younger guys were starting to pound me.  I have two sons that when I played them in racquetball I didn’t let up much.  They found disc golf and played for about a year before  inviting me to play.  They did not let up. The first round I threw 28 over.  But, what I found was a sport that converted over very well from racquetball and was played in age brackets.  I was off and running.

First Disc: 167 Panther (Still have it.)

Favorite Hole at Morley: 16 in the long position. (big an-hyser)

Favorite Story: Consistency is everything!  I was playing hole one in the C position at Morley Field.  I threw a hyser over the top of the trees on the right and stuck the disc in the very top branch of the tallest tree.  I just said forget about it and kept playing.  When I was up on hole one to start the second round, I threw the same hyser shot.  I knocked my stuck disc out of the top of the tree.

In My Bag: I carry 40 or 50 disks in my trunk + what’s in my bag. My bag changes depending on the course I am playing.  I have several of the same model and weight discs that go in and out of my bag. This gives me good disc rotation and makes it less traumatic when I lose a disc.  At this time my bag contains:

168 JK PRO Aviar – X putter -- I use this for approaching and putting in the wind. If I was in Las Vegas and in the real bad wind, I would use my ROC to putt with. 175 R-Pro Cro – Very straight and sticky putter (I know it’s a midrange, but it’s a great putter). 150 R-Pro Boss – This is an old beat up disc I have to give a big hyser to when I throw it.  This is my longest driver with the wind.  It has a beautiful S flight. 153 Champion Valkyrie – Not as long in distance, but a much more accurate driver.  I use this with the wind when I have little room for error. 167 Champion Valkyrie – This is one of the first flat top Valkyrie’s.  Into moderate wind this is fairly straight. 172 Star Destroyer (2007 Gentlemen’s Club Disc) – This is beat up and fairly straight and long for a Destroyer. 170 Champion Destroyer (Fling XI Tournament Disc) – Awesome into the wind long driver. 174 KC Pro TeeBird – Medium to long approach Hyser. 180 San Marino ROC – Straight approach.  Great for a World’s type course where you are throwing through trees, narrow fairways or mandatory’s. 172 Special Edition Leopard – Long and short left breaking roller.  178 Stingray – Older flat top.  Long right breaking roller.  A secret shot to get through tough, tight or narrow fairways is to hyser a Stingray low and straight and it will go straight for a100 to 150 feet. 180 Stingray – A short right roller. Perfect for an easy birdie on Morley hole one in the short  position.  I buy these from Snapper out of the rental inventory.  The more beat up the better.

Tips for newer players and players looking to improve: I tell everyone that comes out to play with me for the first time that they need to give the game at least 10 tries before they decide whether or not they like it.  After that 10th round you’ll just be getting the hang of throwing the disc and I’m sure you’ll be hooked.  Like any sport, this game is really easy to learn, but will take years to master, and that’s the fun part!  During the first week of playing this sport I bought several overstable drivers and almost quit because I couldn’t throw them with any sort of consistency!  Work your way through the discs, starting with midranges, then fairway drivers, and finally to the overstable drivers so you can develop control before adding power and distance.  You’ll thank me later.

Began Playing Disc Golf: I started playing the Summer of '08. My brother took me out one day after a particularly bad workweek. I was a interesting way to blow of steam throwing disc as hard and far as possible. After that I started going out more and more for the excercise for myself and my dog, Phoenix, the culture playing and a bit of sibling rivalry.

Favorite Hole At Morley: I really enjoy the long positions for Holes 5, 10 and 19. I get a kick out of throwing long bombs when the chance arrives.

First Disc: My first disc was the one by brother gave me, a 171 destroyer. Later it became my dogs disc when we play.

Morley Field Aces: Hole 1 at 197' and hole 17 at 176' in one day. I have also aced hole 16 at 225' with a driver and a putter. Hole 9 at 285'. Black aced hole 8 from pad 7.

Favorite Disc: My dog Phoenix, a guaranteed bird everytime if I give him the disc. My Champion Valkyries at 175g. Just tends to be my good all around go to disc.

Favorite Driver: Tie dye 175 Champion Valkyrie. I can get it to bomb far and fairly straight. I can also get it to turn over and hold the line when needed.

Favorite Midrange: 175 Afterschock. I goes exactly where I throw it and if I need a roller it works great there too.

Favorite Putter: My purple/red FLX Challenger 173g. It works pretty good for me since I understand the characteristics of it and get it to go in 9/10 times.

Tips For New Players or Players Trying To Improve: Talk to Snapper. The man really knows his stuff. He has helped me improve my throws and technique. Other than that watch others who play, observe how they throw and putt. You can also group up with someone who has been there for a while and pick up tips. Most of all it is a game. Don't take things to seriously other wise you just aggravate yourself and start doing poorly.

Began Playing Disc Golf: I started out of my senior year playing with this guy I knew I had played with beach disc all my life some ultimate frisbee here and there but he told me about this course in Balboa park where you could play this game disc golf and I said what...wait..huh...show me ? As for why I started playing when I saw some random old guy throw at hole five in the deep position I said ok I want to do that and so I went out a few more times and was hooked.....oh yeah!!!

First Disc: My first disc was a Shark. I only had it for a few weeks and I then I lost it in the big tree that fell on the 18th/19th hole before that cleared out the leaves and branches oh well

Favorite Hole at Morley: My favorite hole wold have to be five in the deep. I have a good strong arm and I can throw straight so I love to watch it go out there and hit close. I'm getting better and hope to deuce it some time soon

Favorite Disc: my dx cobra because it was the second disc had after i lost my shark i went to the pro shop and as what was a good disc and some characteristics like the shark and the guy there said a cobra was good that it had more of and s turn i was like ok whatever (note: i was still learning the game) but i try it and like it now here we are 5, 6 or 7 years later and i had to retire it and get a new one (still learn to fine tune my game) in dx plastic

Tip For New Players and Players Looking To Improve: ok for new player rent a disc and try the game and if you like it go and buy a disc at big five when there on sale a shark or cobra practice your throw get it to go straight if you can or try to keep it level once to get tor throw down work on distance and accuracy then work on tricks rollers turnovers etc. and last practice putts all day and every day your not playing it helps for players looking to improve i say go and get a practice basket (travel basket folds up in a bag and goes any where) they work good and help me to drive longer and hard also helped me to putt somewhat better also dont be afraid to try new techniques like rollers and tomahawks they can work and last but not least dont worry about style its not important how you look on the course its how you play

Began Playing Disc Golf: A friend from work invited me out to Morley Field in August 2007 to meet for our fantasy football draft.  He introduced me to disc golf that day and I haven’t stopped the fever since. In 2009 I started my PDGA tour and played in 16 PDGA sanctioned events, competing in INT, ADV, and PRO.  I ended up finishing first in San Diego Aces Intermediate Points, fifth in Intermediate Socal Points, and earned over 1,000+ PDGA points to get an invitation to the 2010 Am Worlds in Ohio.  It has been a great first year tour and thank you to all the friends, players, and volunteers throughout Socal for making it a possibility.

Tips For Other Players: As the great ones say (Tiger, Jordan, Ali) confidence is the key to success.  Build your confidence and reinforce it by repetitive motion.

Putting – develop a style that you are comfortable with and then practice on a regular basis.  Putt at least 15-20 minutes before a round and work on your in-the-circle putts only.  Once you are making more than 90% of these putts with 100% confidence, then step back a few feet.  Treat every single putt like it is the last putt of your life to save the world (that might be a little extreme).

Driving – first learn what the disc you are throwing is supposed to do.  Go out to a field and throw all your discs straight, then hyzer, then anhyzer, over and over.  Learn how the disc responds in different winds, such as headwinds, tailwinds, and crosswinds. Then once you feel comfortable with the disc characteristics, practice your control and accuracy by throwing at a 250-300ft distance.  As you develop solid form, you can move the distance back.

This is not a power game, but a finesse game.  The perfect form and a smooth balanced transition of your body from beginning to end will out throw and maintain control over the big arms any day, just watch Ken Jarvis.  Most of all, stay positive, always concentrate on the next shot, and keep it in 5th gear from start to finish (thanx Beanieman).

And one last thing, this is a grassroots sport made up of thousands of disc golf volunteers to make this sport happen.  Do your part and find some way that you contribute to help build this sport and make it become a huge success for the future of disc golf.

I played competitive Ultimate frisbee for about 8 years before I discovered disc golf. I moved up to Lake Tahoe in 2001 for the winter season, and there was no ultimate team at the time.  So I decided to try disc golf. I showed up by myself at the Zephyr Cove course with one disc, no map, and no clue about how to play.  Lucky for me, some locals rolled up and kindly offered for me to join them. I'm so glad I did! Started playing tournaments in 2005.

It was a tie dye Stratus, which I still have. It's so beat that its even understable at the Mountain High course.

Go out to a field and practice.  Too many new players just go to Morley and think they'll get better automatically.  If you want to best, fastest way to improve, get out to a park. Pick a particular skill that you want to work on, such as your grip, follow through, or keeping the disc low.
